Gert Richter

Gert Richter

Gert Richter is a German artist who has been living in Switzerland for 30 years. His work is of a unique artistic radicalism: He does not shy away from extreme color spectra and manipulations that lie far beyond decorative photographic art. Through this break with reality, he creates his own visual language in which nature, emotions and technology flow together. The boundaries between photography, painting and data manipulation become blurred - leading ultimately to the question: How real is reality?

Gert Richter grew up in Berlin, studied in Heidelberg, went into advertising as a copywriter, wrote his first novel in Spain, became Creative Director in the largest German-American advertising agency at the time, founded the first advertising database in Berlin and expanded it further in Switzerland. He has always been a prolific writer, photographer, artist - ten novels, four non-fiction books, a theatre play, three screenplays, eight photo books, literary readings, group and solo exhibitions in Switzerland.
