Eve of destruction

Probably you know this protest song in the version of Barry McGuire. However, it was created in 1965 by P.F. Sloan, talking about the turmoil of those days. Here are some examples from the lyrics - and, sadly enough, they could have been written today:

The Eastern world, it is explodin'
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill, but not for votin'
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'?
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'

But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

This extremely expressive image is a burst of interference, a corrupted transmission, a collision of noise and compositional energy. Its chaotic, saturated, electrified aesthetics talk of information overload, distortion, decay of clarity. Bright neon bands - lime green, fuchsia, red, cyan - on dark purples and blacks are used for a conceptual exploration of breakdown - of values, trust, and meaning in this age of loss.
